At least 400 students from leading universities and colleges in Metro Manila will kick off their vigil for RH with a march that starts along Katipunan Ave. along the gates of Ateneo de Manila University at 6 PM on November 14, as both Houses of Congress opensn on that day. They call it “Busina Para sa RH…Blow Your Horn for RH as they encourage cars along Katipunan Ave. to blow their horns in support of the passage of the RH Bill.
After the brief mobilization and gathering along Katipunan, the group will march all the way to Batasan to join the gathering of advocates in the South Gate after they unfurl a purple “RH Now” ribbon along Katipunan Ave. and camp out at the Congress gates. The students will also dye their hairs purple to show their solidarity and commitment to campaign more aggressively to push Congress to vote on the RH Bill.
“We are a strong group and we can really campaign to our peers to support the RH Bill. The Catholic Vote is a myth. But more than a third of the voting public are composed of young people and we hope that our legislators will listen to the voice of the youth.” Gibby Gorres, National Secretary General of Student Council Alliance of the Philippines said of the event.
